This is one of the Disney Twisted Tale series.
Captain Shang is fatally wounded in the battle by Shan Yu, and Mulan is worried he won’t make it. Then she sees his deceased father at his bedside and she knows she has to do something or else Shang will be lost to her forever. As soldier Ping, Mulan travels to the afterlife Diny, to convince its ruler King Yama to return Shang to the living. She is accompanied by Shang’s family guardian, the great Lion ShiShi (and she has to leave her own Mushu behind).
When she finds Shang, she is torn: does she tell him who she is, and will he accept her? Can they get back to King Yama on time?
A nice twist on Mulan’s story – thankfully they live happily ever after – like one is supposed to in a fairytale!
