In Kyoto, on an indecipherable address is where one can find the Kokoro Clinic for the Soul. Only people who have need of it can find it, and they are prescribed a cat by Dr Nikké and his assistant Chitose.
The book consists of several tales about a certain cat and the people whose lives that cat changed. For instance 8 year old, golden-eyed Bee; Bee is prescribed to a young man who hates his sales job at a prestigious company. He hates his boss, who seems a really horrible person, and he’s not doing well at his job. Shortly after he’s prescribed Bee, his boss fires him and he panics. He takes Bee back to the clinic, but they write him another prescription for a cat. On his way home Bee escapes and scratches the paint of a fancy car. Thankfully, the owner of the car loves cats and allows the young man to work off his debt in his company while he fusses over Bee.
The stories in this book are wonderful and so relatable as a cat lover. I’m looking forward to the sequel We’ll Prescribe You Another Cat which comes out in September 2025 in the UK.
