Taryn is 8 months pregnant and is about to sign an NDA regarding the father of her child, when some memories of the conception surface – and she refuses to sign the NDA which also means, she’s not getting the money the baby’s father has promised her. She sets out to visit her brother who is a ski instructor and gets in an accident.
A man, Hank, helps her out of her car and takes her to his home where his wife Polly takes care of Taryn. As there’s a snow storm raging they are unable to take her to the hospital – but thankfully Polly is a nurse and they have a room set up with a hospital bed in the basement – where Polly’s mother stayed during her final months. Taryn’s leg is broken and she’s in agony – but she can only take Tylenol which barely touches the pain.
The next day, Taryn asks whether she can go to the hospital now, but Polly says she’ll have to wait until Hank is home. This keeps going on and on – Polly keeps coming up with excuses and Taryn is sure Hank is behind it.
This was an excellent read, it had an unexpected twist at the end – really enjoyed it!
