The Surf House by Lucy Clarke

The Surf House

Model Bea has had enough of her job and walks away from a photo shoot in Morocco. As she leaves the hotel in Marrakesh, two men attack her: they steal her backpack and one of them tries to physically assault her. She is rescued by another woman and when Bea’s assailant turns on the other woman, Marnie, Bea plunges a knife into the man’s neck. The two women flee together and Marnie takes Bea with her to her house, The Surf House which stands on the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea.

While Bea makes herself useful by helping Marnie out with the guesthouse, a new guest arrives. The American man is looking for his sister Savannah, who has disappeared, and he convinces Bea – who is being blackmailed about stabbing the man in Marrakesh – to help him investigate. Meanwhile, Bea gets involved with Marnie’s neighbour.

I didn’t see the ending coming for this one, I did suspect the right person, but was lead to believe someone else had a hand in Savannah’s disappearance. I’ve loved all of Lucy Clarke’s books and ever since I read The Sea Sisters, I’ve devoured them all!
