Playing the Field by Becky Ward

Playing the Field

Lily’s local football club moves to a city fifty miles away, Lilly, her sister and her father decide to start their own football club. They have try outs and then put together a team. The younger brother of famous football player Ben Pryce is one of them.

Ben has a bit of a reputation as a womaniser and overall enfant terrible. He got in a fight which landed him on the bench for several months. So naturally, he takes an interest in the new club of his baby brother.

Pretty soon after, Ben and Lily start dating behind everyone’s back. Some of the team have noticed it, others seem to be oblivious – Lily’s dad included…

What can I say about this book. a. I hate football, and b. I’m not a fan of the romance genre.

This wasn’t a terrible book – it follows the get together, fight, be apart and miserable and then get back together script to a t. It was fairly enjoyable, the football aside 😉
