This is book 1 of the Molly the Maid Series
Molly Gray is a maid in the Regency Grand Hotel, she is diligent and thorough. Her supervisor Cheryl is not, she slacks off, and steals the tips the guests have left for other maids. Molly is a little different to other people, though she is 25 years old, she is very naive. She is still mourning the loss of her beloved grandmother; Gran raised Molly as her mother struggled with substance abuse.
One day, Molly finds the dead body of one of the hotel’s guests, Charles Black, in bed. Molly soon becomes the prime suspect. The doorman of the hotel, Mr Preston, makes sure Molly has a great lawyer to help out, his daughter Charlotte, who makes sure that Molly is released.
Molly starts to investigate to clear her name. She learns that the hotel’s dishwasher Juan Manuel, was an unwilling participant in Mr Black’s nefarious drug business.
I loved this book. Everyone assumes Molly is autistic, but I’m not entirely sure she is. She’s naive and socially awkward, maybe because she’s only ever been around her grandmother and her Gran’s friends. Or she could be on the spectrum. Anyway, I like the character and the book. I was not expecting the twist at the end!
