Book 1 of the Yorkshire Escape Series
Claire, a workaholic, bumps into a handsome stranger, and is instantly attracted to him. The feeling seems mutual and soon Ashwin takes her out for dinner. After they sleep together, he ghosts her. Meanwhile, Claire’s parents go on a four month long cruise and her sister Alice decides to go find herself in India, at a yoga retreat. Alice leaves her two young daughters in Claire’s care, who has been signed off work by the doctor (for stress).
After Claire takes her nieces Poppy and Ava to school, she decides to go running in the park. Here she meets an elderly woman called Hilda who has a strange taste in track suits. Claire is surprised to see Ash in the park as well. In front of Hilda, they pretend there is no history between them, and Hilda wants to play matchmaker… the three start to work together to set up a Saturday morning park run in their park.
I forgot Bill, the dog, a stray who keeps following Ash around. When they try to take the dog to a shelter, they’re told the shelter is full and Ash is forced to adopt him…
This is a lovely book. I didn’t like Claire at the beginning of the book, I was intrigued by the handsome Ash, and absolutely adored Hilda. I’m not sure whether all the stories she told about her past were true, but they were very entertaining. Poppy and Ava are adorable. I had no expectations when I started reading: I don’t like running so this prompt seemed horrible, and I really, really enjoyed this book.
