Dune by Frank Herbert

Dune

Book 1 of the Dune Series

Paul Atreides is the heir to a noble family that rules the planet Arrakis. The planet is a desert, inhospitable, and the only thing of value is the “spice” melange, a drug capable of extending life and enhancing consciousness.  After House Atreides is destroyed, Paul must go on a journey to fulfill his destiny and become known as Muad’Dib.

This was my second attempt at reading Dune, the first time I got bored in chapter one and just gave up. Now because it fits one of the prompts for the PopSugar Reading Challenge, I persevered.

It’s not a terrible book, in fact it’s one of my husband’s favourite books – but it just doesn’t do it for me. My reading genre tastes lean more towards Fantasy than Science Fiction. When it’s comes to the big screen or TV shows, I do like science fiction.
