Stella Payne, a 42 year old woman, is divorced and the mother of an 11 year old boy. When her son Quincy goes on holiday with his father, she decides to book a last minute to the Caribbean where she meets Winston Shakespeare. Winston is quite a bit younger than Stella and pursues her. Stella is a bit apprehensive because of their age difference, but she eventually gives in and the two fall in love. Upon her return home, Winston and Stella stay in touch and when he visits her in the States, Quincy meets his mum’s new beau…
I had seen the film with Angela Bassett and quite enjoyed it – so I thought I’d give the book a go for the PopSugar prompt. Unfortunately, I’m not a romcom girl when it comes to books and I really did not like this book. I guess this was one of those times where the movie is better than the book (in my opinion).
