The five greatest female mystery writers have created a secret society in which they show they are no longer prepared to be considered second rate citizens by their male counterparts. The women in this society are: Dorothy Sayers, Agatha Christie, Ngaio Marsh, Margery Allingham and Baroness Emma Orczy – they call themselves The Queens of Crime. They set out to solve a real murder – the murder of a young woman found strangled in a park in Paris.
May Daniels was a young English nurse, who visited France with a friend went missing while they prepared to board the ferry back home. Her body is found months later in the nearby woods. The Queens of Crime set out to investigate and soon one of them, Dorothy, becomes the target of the killer!
I enjoyed the book, even though this wasn’t the best book I’ve read by Ms Benedict. I intend to review more books by Marie Benedict as they are entertaining and give an insight into the lives of real historical figures.
