Animal Farm by George Orwell

Animal Farm

”All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others”

The maltreated animals of The Manor Farm rebel against the owner Mr Jones and chase him off the farm. They rename the farm Animal Farm and declare all the animals are equal. Then the pigs start taking the power and everyone who rebels against them is punished. Then the power shifts again, and the pig Napoleon becomes their leader of all, letting his fellow pigs be his mouthpiece.

This shows how communism seems like an ideal solution but it also shows that power hungry individuals will always be in power. In the end, the animals are no better off than they were with Mr Jones as their owner.

I read this book in school for English and thought it was thought provoking at the time, and now, having re-read it, I still feel the same way.
