Liam and Michaela (Mike) Campbell have a picture perfect life. Liam is a doctor, and Mike is a stay at home wife who looks after their 2 children and her horses. When Mike falls off her horse and hits her head, she slips into a coma. For weeks, Liam and the kids hope and pray she will come back to them, but Mike remains in her coma. The only thing that elicits a reaction from her is the name of her former husband, movie star Julian True. Liam is desperate, and contacts Julian to tell him about Mike’s accident.
Julian True has been married several times, but Michaela (Kayla) is the one who got away. She left him with their baby daughter almost sixteen years ago. When he learns about Kayla’s accident, he hurries to her bedside.
This is a romance novel, but I did like it. No spice whatsoever and that suits me as well. Mike/Kayla is a nice character – we learn about her troubled relationship with Julian and her current relationship with Liam through flashbacks. She clings to her love for Julian even though he isn’t deserving, and though she married Liam years ago, she never loved him the way she did love Julian. Or so she thinks….
