Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf

Mrs Dalloway

Clarissa Dalloway is pre-occupied with the last minute planning of a party at her home. As she prepares her home for the party she thinks of times long ago, because one of her former suitors has come to see her. Clarissa reexamens the choices she has made in her life that have brought her to this point.

This book is considered Virginia Woolf’s greatest novel but I really disliked this book. I found it hard to find the story within the page after page of rambling as if the author has vomited all their thoughts and feelings onto the page. I think this style (stream of consciousness) is not for me. The first 30 – 40 pages I was certain I was not going to finish this book.
