Book 2 of the Queenie series
Queenie Jenkins is back!
Queenie is 33 years old, and the editor of The Good Sis, a Black woman’s platform. As such, Queenie researches the hurdles Black women have to take on their fertility journey. She goes undercover to a fertility clinic and learns new facts about her own reproductive health. This makes her realise she wants to settle down and have a baby though she’s not in a real relationship right now. She tries to rekindle her relationship with Frank, her best friend Kyazike’s cousin. Queenie considers Frank the love of her life. She feels really seen by him and he’s kind.
Queenie’s beloved grandfather Wilfred’s health is deteriorating, and though this makes her face his mortality, it also brings Queenie closer to her grandmother Veronica, her mother Sylvie and her aunt Maggie.
I was so excited to learn that this sequel would be released this year because I adore Queenie. I absolutely loved the first book so I couldn’t wait to see what happens to Queenie in this book.
Queenie has definitely grown up. She has a great job and though her relationship Vin is sissling out – he is seeing someone else on the side because they never said they were exclusive – she’s ready to settle down.
I did really like the book, but I’ve given it four stars because I didn’t love it as much as I did the first book.
