Delia Owens (born April 4, 1949) is an American author, zoologist, and conservationist best known for her 2018 blockbuster novel Where the Crawdads Sing. Before her fiction success, she spent decades as a wildlife scientist in Africa, co-authoring three nonfiction memoirs about her conservation work, including Cry of the Kalahari.
