
Arrietty’s mother disappeared in the middle of the night, leaving her and her baby brother behind with their dad. When Arrietty asks her father where her mother is, he says he can’t answer that. Arrietty, who is 17 is suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome and is kept home from school. Her brother is 6 years old and always up to something.the kids miss their mother tremendously. Arrietty is upset her father isn’t searching for her mum and wonders why he hasn’t reported her missing. She starts to suspect that he has done something to her mother and starts investigating the house. Her mum’s clothes and toiletries are still there and she finds her mum’s mobile phone taped to the bottom of her father’s desk. As she becomes more and more convinced her dad has something to do with her mum’s disappearance she runs away…
There’s an extremely surprising twist at the end, which is why I couldn’t get the book out of my head. It is an excellent read, I had given this 4 stars initially but then I couldn’t get the book out of my mind, and changed it to 5 stars.
