The Plea by Steve Cavanagh

The Plea

Book 2 of the Eddie Flynn Series.

David Child, the client of a corrupt law firm, is accused of murdering his girlfriend Clara. She was found in his apartment, shot in the back and then 12 times in the head. The FBI asks Eddie Flynn, the con artist turned lawyer, to get Child to testify against the firm. He is “encouraged” by the FBI as they have evidence against Eddie’s wife who works at this law firm. They threaten to indict her if he doesn’t get Child to testify.

While Eddie tries to get his client off, he also tries to find a way to get his wife off the hook. Eddie is convinced his client is innocent of the murder and he starts to investigate.

I do like this series – I have read the first and the 5th book I think, and now this one. Eddie is a likeable character, he reminds me a little of the Lincoln lawyer… who also is a hustler. Eddie is trying to go legit, but sometimes goes back to his old tricks – which makes him human.
