Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera

Listen for the Lie

Lucy Chase has just lost her job thanks to a podcast called Listen for the lie. She’s the subject of this podcast, or more accurately, the podcast is about the murder of her friend Savannah (Savvy). Lucy was found with Savvy’s blood all over her and hasn’t got any memories of the night it happened. She remembers going to a wedding, and then waking up in the hospital. The people in the town she grew up in don’t believe she’s suffering from amnesia – the main reason why she moved to Los Angeles.

Her grandmother is about to celebrate her birthday and she asks Lucy to come visit. However, this would mean going back to her hometown, wherre everyone thinks she has killed Savvy.

When Lucy’s boyfriend tells her he needs space, she decides to go back to Texas to visit her family for grandma’s birthday. When she gets there, she learns that the host of the podcast is in town as well. Ben has tried to contact her several times for an interview, which she has ignored. Now, she’s not able to ignore him because she runs into him when she’s getting a take away.

As she gets to know Ben, she becomes more and more interested in what actually happened. Did she murder her best friend?

I was debating between 4 and 5 stars for this book – it’s definitely a 4+! This was an excellent read and kept me guessing who did it.
