Book 7 from the Dexter Series
In this book Dexter and Deborah are ordered to help as advisors for actors who have come to Miami to film a new crime show. Deborah is followed by Jackie Forrest, a drop dead gorgeous woman who takes a liking to Dexter who is advising over the hill actor Robert Chase. Dexter doesn’t like Robert, and keeps him at arm’s length. Jackie is being stalked by a crazed fan – and the murder victims that are found in Miami all bear a resemblance to her. So she asks Dexter to act as a bodyguard for her. The relationship between Dexter and Jackie soon crosses the line from professional to personal. During the filming of a scene in which Dexter stars as an extra, he gets a panicked call from Rita: his adolescent step-daughter Astor is missing! Dexter goes off in search of Astor -but will he find her in time?
This storyline is not covered in the TV Show Dexter, so it’s all new. At this point in the series Rita has already been murdered by the Trinity killer. Rita may come across as ditzy and insecure, but she is very clever and a proper mama bear. So when Astor goes missing, she pulls out all the stops, and she finds her before Dexter does!
