Seventeen year old Aderyn, known as Ryn, cares about her family and her family’s graveyard. Since the death of her parents, she and her siblings have been scraping by, working as gravediggers in Colbren, and they’re not doing well. The main problem is that in Colbren, the dead don’t always stay dead. The risen dead are known as ‘bone houses’ and they are part of an age old curse according to legend.
Ellis, an apprentice map maker, arrives in town and the bone houses attack with a ferocity not seen before. Together, Ryn and Ellis travel into the mountains where they will have to face the curse and some well hidden truths about themselves
I bought this book because I liked the cover. Had I known it was about zombie like creatures I would have passed on it. They freak me out in such a way that I would rather not read about them. I don’t mind ghost stories, but ghouls and zombies? No thanks. And the same goes for the bone houses!
