Book 1 of The Crucible Series
Lyra, an office clerk from San Francisco, has been entered in the Crucible: a game to entertain the Gods and to determine who will sit on the throne on Olympus, but played by mortals. Lyra’s benefactor is the worst of the Gods: Hades. Lyra has never been favoured by the Gods, thanks to Zeus. Now she has caught Hades’ eye and soon starts having feelings for the God of the Underworld.
I really wanted to love this book, I mean The Hunger Games crossed with Greek mythology – what’s not to love? I just had trouble connecting to Lyra – I didn’t really like her. And I lost interest in the story after a while. I did listen to the entire book – but after about 35% I wasn’t that into the story anymore sadly.
