Home Front by Kristin Hannah

Jolene Zarkades has it all: a great husband, 2 beautiful daughters and a job she adores. Then her husband lets slip that he doesn’t love her anymore during an argument. And a few days after this, Jolene is told that she’s being deployed to Iraq. Her husband and her eldest daughter are angry and say she’s abandoning them. Jolene has been in the military since she was 18 and though she will miss her family, she knows she has no choice but to go.

While Jolene is in Iraq, she misses her family and she believes that her marriage is over. Then her helicopter is shot down…

It doesn’t happen very often that a book makes me cry, but this one did! I’ve loved every single Kristin Hannah book I’ve read and this one is no different. The characters are real, and mostly likeable. Having said that, I did feel the urge to strangle the eldest daughter a few times.
