Anxious People by Fredrik Backman

Eight strangers are together viewing an apartment when it turns into a hostage situation. The strangers start opening up to each other in this weird situation. There’s Zara, the bank manager, Roger and Anna-Lena, a retired couple, Julia and Ro, a lesbian couple, Estelle, an 80 year old who isn’t impressed by the gun in her face, who keeps telling everyone her husband is parking the car… but is he? Estelle made me chuckle when she was describing Julia and Ro as people from Stockholm.

Like A Man called Ove, Fredrik Backman is all about the feels in this book. The characters are well rounded and you feel for the bank robber/hostage taker. I really enjoyed this book, I have given it four stars because I simply adored A Man called Ove, and this one was very good, but it wasn’t quite at that level though. I mean, Ove, the cantankerous old man made me cry…
