This is Book 2 in the Nemesis series by April Daniels.
Danielle (Danny) Tozer has been superhero Dreadnought for only nine months but she’s already getting overworked because she’s doing the work of a full team by herself. Next to her busy superhero schedule, she’s also trying to get emancipated because her parents are trying to force her to reverse her transition to a girl.
Then her parents’ lawyer is murdered and Danny is arrested. Danny is innocent and couldn’t have done it because she was abducted when the man was killed. So she has to deal with being falsely accused, and a new supervillain, Sovereign. Thankfully she has her friendship with Sarah (Calamity) and Doc Impossible. Together with her friends, she rescues the city of New Port from Sovereign and her old nemesis Graywytch.
I really, really love these books. Danny is an extremely likeable superhero, she’s loyal, she’s vulnerable and she’s in love in this book. My heart aches for her regarding her relationship with her parents and I seriously dislike Graywytch, who unfortunately resembles some people I know in real life. I could go and have a rant right now, but this is a book review so I’m just going to say I’m an ally.
