Twenty-seven year old Margaret “Jet” Mason is violently attacked in her house on Halloween by an unseen intruder She was hit on the back of the head, and suffers a catastrophic head injury. Due to the injury an aneurism is forming which will kill her within a week. Her mother begs her to go for surgery, which has a minimal chance of survival, but Jet decides not to go ahead with that. Instead she decides to investigate her own murder with her childhood friend Billy.
An excellent mystery. We learn about Jet’s past… and Jet had never thought she had enemies – yet now everyone is an enemy. From her ex-boyfriend to her family. She learns about family secrets, like what is her former best friend (now her sister in law) hiding? Did her sister really drown? Will Jet find out who tried to kill her before she dies?
I like the new approach to a murder mystery. Jet is a likeable character and I enjoyed this who-dunnit.
