All the Diamonds in Paris by Kristin Harmel

All the Diamonds in Paris

Anabel Martinet is a jewel thief, like most of her ancestors who stole from the rich and gave to the poor. In Nazi occupied Paris, Anabel now steals from the Nazis and their collaborators and funnels the money to the French resistance. Anabel steals two diamond bracelets from a Nazi, at a ball. The bracelets belonged to her friends the Rosmans, especially created for Mrs Rosman (who’s first name eludes me at the moment) when their twins were born. When Anabel is arrested, one of her daughters Colette still has one of the bracelets. Her sister Liliane’s body is found floating in the Seine the following morning, but the second bracelet is missing.

Years later, Colette Martinet is now in her 80s, and she had a long career as a jewel thief. She’s been in search of the missing bracelet. Then one day she finds it in an exhibit in the Boston Diamond Museum. Can she find answers to what happened to her family? Can she reunite the bracelets?

Another great book by Kristin Harmel. Though the profession of the leading ladies is questionable, I did really enjoy this one. The Robin Hood type thievery has a certain je ne sais quoi doesn’t it? And Colette is a really likeable character!
