The Secret Adversary by Agatha Christie

The Secret Adversary

Book 1 of the Tommy and Tuppence Mysteries

This book introduces us to a young Thomas Beresford (Tommy) and Prudence Cowley (Tuppence). The two have been friends for many years, and they decide to start a business together “The Young Adventurers”.

For their first job, Tuppence is asked to pretend to be American and travel to Paris alone. This trip sets a lot of dangerous situations in motion that involve international spies, a Russian aristocrat, a patient suffering from amnesia, and the mysterious fiend Mr Brown.

All in all an exciting adventure for Tommy and Tuppence who barely escape with their lives.

Tommy and Tuppence are my favourite Agatha Christie detectives – I like their chemistry, though in this book they are just friends. This book was written in the 1920s and you can tell from the language but it’s still a very good read. Agatha Christie doesn’t disappoint. Never.
