Acts of Violet by Margarita Montimore

Acts of Violet

Almost a decade ago, the famous magician Violet Volk disappeared – mid act and she never resurfaced. Her fans, known as the Wolf Pack, blame her sister Sasha for not talking about it and they think she wrote a piece called “Violet Volk is a fraud” and posted it online. However, Sasha is not the author of said piece.

At the time of her disappearance, Sasha and her sister were estranged. And in the ten years since, Sasha has seen her daughter Quinn idolise her aunt.

Now a podcaster called Cameron Frank is doing a show on Violet’s disappearance, and he’s hellbent on getting Sasha on the show. However, she tells him in no uncertain terms that she has no intentions of being on his podcast.

As the story progresses, we learn why Violet and Sasha were estranged. We learn that Violet was not that nice quite frankly. She was a sensational magician but in the human relations side of things, there could have been some improvements.

I really loved this book, the podcast gave it a little extra layer, but I did really like the Sasha chapters.
