Aurora Teagarden Mysteries Book 2
In this book Aurora ‘Roe’ Teagarden inherits a house and a substantial amount of money after one of the members of the Real Murders club dies. Jane Engle, a lady in her seventies, has bequeathed Roe most of her posessions – apart from her cat Madeleine and her car.
When Roe goes through the things in the house, she comes across a rather macabre find, there’s a human skull hidden in the window seat. Roe tries to figure out whose skull it is, and when the rest of the skeleton is found in a garden nearby, she is on alert.
Her ex Arthur Smith and his new and pregnant wife Lynn Liggett move into the house across the street from Jane Engle’s – now Roe’s house. Roe has decided she’s over Arthur and starts dating the priest (Aubrey Scott) who married her mother Aida a few weeks ago. She soon finds out that he doesn’t share her interest in murderers.
Meanwhile, Madeleine the cat, comes home and Roe is not quite sure what to do with her. However, she decides to keep feeding her in the house while she still lives at her old place.
There’s so much going on in this book. Aurora is very busy packing up the stuff in the house and trying to find out whose skull she’s found. And of course sweet, demanding Madeleine is an amazing addition. (I am a cat person)
I’ve said it before: I love Roe – I think I see quite a bit of myself in her – I’m bookish, interested in serial killers and I was single well into my thirties – so I understand her struggle with dating etc.
