Dexter is Dead by Jeff Lindsay

Dexter is Dead

Book 8, and the final book of the Dexter Series

At the beginning of this book we find out that Dexter has been arrested for the murder of actor Robert Chase who kidnapped his step-daughter Astor and who murdered Dexter’s girlfriend Jackie Foster and his wife Rita. We soon learn that Dexter is not the one who killed Robert, however, he is taking the blame, and he’s in jail. His brother Brian hires an attorney to help Dexter, and he is soon released.

Deborah has the kids: Astor and Cody from Rita’s first marriage, Lily Anne – Dexter and Rita’s baby girl, and she’s demanding custody from Dexter. Deborah is convinced that Dexter is guilty.

After his release, Dexter is the suject of some attacks: he finds a dead body in his hotel room, and when he’s in his next hotel, his rental car is blown up damaging the hotel reception. Dexter sets out to prove his innocence and then… the scene goes to black. Are we to assume that Dexter is dead as the title of the book states?

A thrilling conclusion to the Dexter series. I will miss Dexter Morgan. I may just have to re-read the books and re-watch the TV show.
