This is a short story by Madeline Miller, the author of two of my favourite books: Circe and The Song of Achilles. In this story, Galatea used to be a statue and she was brought to life by the sculptor to become his wife. She now has some small imperfections because she bore him a child – and he’s repulsed by the imperfections.
I wish this was a longer story, a novella maybe… it was really good
