Miss Austen Investigates by Jessica Bull

Miss Austen Investigates

In Miss Austen investigates, Jane Austen is a budding writer who fancies herself an investigator when a woman is found murdered in their village. To make matters worse the main suspect is her brother Georgy as he’s found with the murdered woman’s necklace. Jane bumbles about accusing everyone and their dog and eventually finds out who killed ‘the hapless milliner’ as she calls the murder victim.

Along side her investigation, Jane finds time to meet up with an eligible bachelor but decides to let him go off to London.

I’m not a huge fan of Jane Austen’s novels, and though this puts a face on the woman who has written countless romances that make me yawn, she comes across as a bit of a bumbling idiot. She seems to think she’s smart but guesses wrong so many times that it’s a wonder no one has sent out a lynch mob for her.

It was amusing though and I did like the story.
