Indiana Jackson is a beautiful thirty something holistic healer in San Francisco, she has a teenage daughter, Amanda. Indiana has been divorced from Amanda’s dad for a long time and is dating a rich man called Alan now. Amanda hates Alan’s guts, and likes one of her mum’s male friends, an ex Navy SEAL called Ryan much better. Ryan is head over heels with Indiana as well. Another man, one of her clients, Gary, is smitten with Indi as well.
While Indiana sees the good in everyone, Amanda is more intrigued with the darker side of people. She’s into playing an online game called Ripper, named after Jack the Ripper. When several murders shock San Francisco, Amanda’s dad Bob Martín investigates. Amanda uses her grandfather Blake Jackson (Indiana’s charismatic dad) to find out more about the crime scenes from her father. With her online friends, Amanda starts investigating the murders and then, Indiana is kidnapped, and the suspected next victim of the serial killer… will Amanda and her friends figure out who the murderer is in time?
This was a very good read, I liked the characters, maybe not Alan – he’s a bit of a rich twit yet for some reason, Indiana loves him. Ryan, who suffers from PTSD, is a far more likeable bloke. I had to keep reminding myself that Amanda, who is extremely clever, is still a teenager… the book was a slow starter but then it just pulled me in and wouldn’t let go.
