Jonas is chosen to become the Giver, an important position – the Giver holds the memories of true joys and pains of life. While he starts his training, his father brings home a baby that doesn’t thrive in the baby ward. Jonas becomes attached to the little boy who will not be part of their family because all families have two children, a boy and a girl. Their society seems perfect, but Jonas starts to see the cracks. And when he learns that the baby will be euthanised, he takes action.
This is a wonderful little book, and I can’t wait to read the sequels!
