When We Believed in Mermaids by Barbara O’Neal

When We Believed in Mermaids

ER doctor Kit Bianci is stunned when she sees footage of her sister in New Zealand. Her sister Josie perished in a terrorist attack in Europe years ago and yet a woman who looks exactly like her, with an identical scar on her face is alive on the other side of the world. Kit’s mother begs her to go to New Zealand to find out what’s going on.

In New Zealand, Kit meets a Spaniard, Javier, who lends a listening ear and helps her search for Josie. Kit finds her sister who has built a life in Auckland under an assumed name, and she finds love.

This book has been on my to read list for a very long time. My dislike for romance has kept me from reading it, and that’s a shame, cause I really enjoyed it. The coincidences were a little hard to believe, but I wanted to believe in them!
