The Missing Sister by Lucinda Riley

The Missing Sister

Book 7 of The Seven Sisters Series

Their entire lives, the six D’Aplièse sisters have known that one sister, Merope, is missing. Pa Salt’s lawyer Georg tells them that he has located her; the only clues are: her name is Mary and she has an emerald ring in the shape of a star. Mary lives in New Zealand, and as CeCe and her girlfriend Chrissie were planning to fly to London from Australia in a few days they make a detour to New Zealand. At the vineyard they were sent to, they meet Mary-Kate who is around the same age as them. CeCe is sure that MK is the missing Merope, but she doesn’t have the ring. Her mother Mary, but known as Merry, has taken the ring with her when she went travelling. CeCe and Chrissie follow Mary to Norfolk Island, but when they get there, she’s left for Sydney already. From there, Mary travels to Toronto, and Maia and Ally who are in Geneva ask Electra to find her there. Again, Mary slips away, and in London, Star and Orlando attempt to make contact. Merry flees to Dublin, where Tiggy finally meets her and her son Jack. Merry was afraid someone from her past was chasing her.

The chase of Merry almost gets to a slapstick scene, but once explained, it is understandable why she is so afraid. Merry who is in her late fifties turns out to be the lost sister, and she’s 20 years older than the rest of them. I do like the hint of romance between Ally and Jack… wrapping it all up with a little bow.
