Princess Lira is a deadly siren princess known as the “Princes’ Bane”. She has a collection of seventeen human princes’ hearts. She kills a siren out of turn to steal a prince’s heart early. Furious, her mother—the ruthless Sea Queen—turns Lira into a human and strips away her lethal song. Lira must bring back Prince Elian’s heart by the winter solstice, or she will remain human forever.
Prince Elian is a human royal and pirate captain. His main goal is to hunt and destroy all sirens. He rescues a drowning Lira from the ocean, not knowing she is a siren. Lira offers to help Elian find a way to destroy all sirens for good, leading to an enemies-to-lovers journey filled with lies, tension, and growth.
This is an excellent read. I’ve read the Kindle version twice now, and for this prompt I read the audiobook which I enjoyed tremendously as well. It’s a dark version of the Little Mermaid and so worth the read (obviously since I’ve read it three times).
