This book is written from the viewpoint of Nan O’Dea, the mistress of Archibald ‘Archie’ Christie. Archie has just told Agatha he wants a divorce so he can marry Nan, and then Agatha disappears off the face of the earth.
During the infamous 11 days that Agatha is missing, the two women intersect and handle a shared crisis, uncovering secrets that resolve Nan’s past trauma and explain the true reason behind the author’s sudden vanishing.
The story is based on real people, Archie and Agatha Christie, Nan O’Dea is based on Nancy Neele who was Archie’s lover in real life (and his second wife). Archie and Agatha’s daughter Rosalind is called Teddy in this book (and Archie and Nan’s daughter is called Rosie – to make things more confusing). However, Nan’s backstory is fictional and quite interesting! It definitely made her more relatable and likable. I do like the fact that Nan and Agatha strike up a friendship even though Nan is the new woman in Archie’s life. This fictional Agatha is a bigger woman than I am, cause I would not like the woman who caused the end of my marriage or my husband.
I really love this book. This was a re-read for me so I could review it on my blog. I listened to the audiobook, which was excellent!
