Jon Gutierrez is a 43 year old Basque policeman in the Bilbao PD. He’s overweight, gay and lives with his mother. In a recent case he made a big mistake which got him suspended and could cost him his badge. He receives a mysterious message from someone who calls himself the Mentor, and is asked to bring a señora Antonia Scott to a certain location to meet up with the Mentor.
Antonia Scott is an incredibly intelligent woman with some issues: she doesn’t like to be touched and she’s estranged from her father who is looking after her son. Her husband was injured in an attack and has been in a coma since then.
Together they investigate some recent disappearances: a young boy called Álvaro who is found murdered, a young woman called Carla who is still missing, and then Antonia’s son Jorge goes missing as well. Can they find Carla and Jorge in time?
I found the series based on this book on Amazon after I’d already planned to read this book. Both the book and the series are excellent.
