Book 3 of the Code Name Verity series.
Code Name Verity is set during World War 2. In the first part we meet Verity, not her real name, who has been captured by the Germans. They have tortured her and she agreed to write down her story and all the information they want from her. Verity tells writes her story in third person so we’re not sure who she is. Then halfway through the book it switches to the woman known as Kittyhawk.
Kittyhawk is Verity’s best friend, and they were in France together when Verity was captured.
I really enjoyed this book, WW2 novels have always intrigued me. I once attempted, as a 13 year old, to write my own WW2 novel, but gave up after a few chapters. I had read a paragraph I wrote to a teacher and he asked me which book I plagiarised for it – I guess that was a sort of compliment.
I wish I could have written Code Name Verity….
I’m glad I chose this for the epistolary novel prompt!
