This is book 1 in the Dexter series.
Dexter Morgan is a handsome fellow and a blood splatter expert for the Miami police department. But that’s not all he is, he’s also a very prolific serial killer. He doesn’t just kill for sport, he punishes those who have committed heinous crimes and have gotten away with it.
Now there’s a new serial killer on the loose in Miami, and he’s taunting Dexter, sending him clues and going so far as to abduct his adoptive sister Debra, a vice cop with the Miami police department. The detective in charge of the investigation has her eye on Dexter, she is convinced that he’s involved but he’s just trying to save his sister and trying to find out who is the culprit.
I loved the TV series based on Jeff Lindsay’s books and the book is very good. Dexter is a flawed hero, but a hero nonetheless, even if he’s a serial killer. You cannot help but like the guy… well I couldn’t. He’s a psychopath but because of his code of ethics he is likeable.
