Weyward by Emilia Hart

Weyward

Weyward follows the lives of three women:

In 1619, Altha Weyward is on trial for witchcraft. She’s accused to have killed her former friend Grace’s husband, and is also thought to have had a hand in the death of Grace’s mother over a decade prior.

In 1942, Violet Ayres is interested in the animal kingdom around her, she is especially interested in insects. She wears dragonflies and damselflies in her hair like another girl would wear jewellery. Violet is very unladylike and her father, a viscount, disinherits her, and her brother after she is violated by her cousin.

In 2019, Kate Ayres, the granddaughter of Violet’s brother flees her abusive partner and moves to the house her great aunt Violet left her and tries to find out what has happened in the past.

I love historical fiction combined with magical realism and this is a fab read. A worthy winner of the GoodReads Choice Award!
