Dexter in the Dark by Jeff Lindsay

Dexter in the Dark

Book 3 in the Dexter series.

In the previous book, Dexter’s girlfriend Rita found a diamond ring that fell out of Dexter’s pocket and assumed that he would be proposing. She jumped the gun and told him she would marry him.

In Dexter in the Dark the wedding preparations are in progress. One of Dexter’s colleagues knows a celebrity chef who will do the catering and Rita is ecstatic, even at $250.- a plate.

But other things are occupying Dexter’s thoughts, like Rita’s children Astor and Cody who seem to be little sociopaths and they’re begging Dexter to teach them. There’s a ritual killer on the loose, one that burns his victims after decapitating them. Dexter’s research leads him to the Caanite God Moloch, and during this investigation his Dark Passenger disappears which is unsettling for him… who is he without it?

I really enjoyed this one, and am looking forward to the next book in the series. I intend to read the full series this year.
