Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett

Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries

Book 1 of the Emily Wilde series.

Cambridge professor Emily Wilde is an expert on the subject of faeries is writing the first encyclopaedia about the wee folk and their lore. She travels to the far north to study the local faeries there. However, Emily is not very good with people and she tries to shy away from them. But her rival, the enigmatic, handsome Wendell Bambleby shows up in the village of Hrafnsvik and he invites himself to stay with Emily, much to her dismay.

I really enjoyed this book, I find stories about faeries can be a bit hit and miss but for me, this was a hit. Emily is a curmudgeonly woman, Bambleby is insufferable and somewhat charming, and the townsfolk are a nice amalgamation of characters. Looking forward to the second book in the series!
