Book 1 of the Kay Scarpetta Series
When the body of another woman is found in Richmond, Virginia, Kay Scarpetta is called in as the chief medical examiner. Kay feels guilty because her 11 year old niece Lucy is visiting. Scarpetta soon gets caught up in the case, this victim is a young doctor and the initial suspect is her husband. However, Kay is convinced this death is linked to two others. Together with the police, Kay discovers the truth but does she get it in time? Are Scarpetta and Lucy in danger?
I read this book over twenty years ago for the first time and loved it. I decided I wanted to re-read this book, and read the entire series to review on my blog. I got as far as book 8 previously I think before I moved to the UK – thus far I had read the books in Dutch. So this re-read was in English, and I still really enjoyed it. I have to admit that I’m super excited for the TV series that’s coming out next year as well with Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis.
