Retired maths teacher Grace Winters is contacted by a solicitor who tells her she’s been left a house on Ibiza. She initially doesn’t recognise the name of the person who left her the house: but it turns out to be a former colleague (Christina) who moved to Spain over 40 years ago. Grace had invited her for Christmas when she was feeling lonely and pushed her to follow her dreams.
Initially Grace had no plans of going to Ibiza, but she soon changes her mind. When she gets to the island, she starts asking around what happened to Christina. The circumstances regarding Christina’s death are unclear, all Grace learns is that it happened in the sea. So she decides to investigate to learn what happened…
Matt Haig is the master of writing wonderful novels, this one is absolutely lovely. I think it may have helped that I listened to the audiobook narrated by Joanna Lumley, which was excellent.
The storyline is fabulous, and I enjoyed every minute thoroughly!
