Book 2.5 of the Miss Austen Investigates series
In this novella, Jane finds the mummified remains in the Deane Rectory, they think it was a soldier as there is a military coat with the skeleton. Jane is of another opinion: she is convinced it is a woman, not a man. Moreover, she thinks it’s the missing daughter of Lady Isabella who disappeared on her wedding day. The runaway bride has never been seen again and Jane is convinced she would have come back when she learned that her younger sisters were terribly ill with smallpox, an illness they later died from.
I really enjoyed this one, I wasn’t too sure when I read the first of the Miss Austen Investigates books, but I’m starting to like this amateur sleuth! The story is believable and a good read for Christmas!
