V for Vendetta by Alan Moore

The film V for Vendetta is one of my all time favourites, so this graphic novel has been on my TBR for the longest time.

The story is slightly different, though not much, just a few details. The story is set in a dystopian UK where many rights are taken away from people.

Evey Hammond is saved by masked vigilante V from some fingermen and V takes her home with him. After a while Evey is captured and in her cell she finds the account of another woman who was held there before her, a lesbian who was incarcerated for her sexuality. Her story is grim and once Evey has read the entire account she is set free.

It’s scary how some of these things seem to be coming true in recent times… society seems to become less and less tolerant of people who are different to what is considered the norm and we should be vigilant that the world of V for Vendetta doesn’t become real.
