This memoir deals with Cheryl’s mother’s death, the subsequent drug use and her failed marriage soon after. Twenty-six year old Cheryl decides to walk the Pacific Crest Trail without any training whatsoever. She hikes more than a thousand miles on pure willpower.
This was an interesting read – it’s surprising what people do when they grieve. Cheryl’s grieve for her mum is really overwhelming and she pretty much destroys her own life with the drugs and affairs. It was nice to see how she got her life back on track by hiking the PCT.
