Faith has just split up with her husband Guy, who has moved in with his girlfriend Chloe. To add insult to injury, she’s just found out she’s pregnant. She doesn’t intend to tell Guy about the baby but when he starts talking about starting a family with his new girlfriend it sort of slips out. Though she doesn’t want him involved, and she has moved away from London, Guy keeps showing up saying he wants to be part of the child’s life.
Faith has bought a house on a tiny island in Dorset, she didn’t count on it not having running water though – she did know about the other things, like no central heating. And the price tag for fixing the water is quite steep. Thankfully she’s just been hired to copy 6 pieces of art for a Japanese bank by Cecily.
Cecily has her heart set on Faith’s new house and when Faith is suddenly admitted to hospital she makes her move.
I loved a several of McGregor’s books in the past, like The girl in the green glass mirror. This one is good, but not quite as good as The girl in the green glass mirror. I did enjoy it though and the twist at the end was definitely unexpected.
